Stuck by Jessica Goldberg is a raw, urgent exploration of youth, addiction, and survival in America’s overlooked margins. Centered on young people navigating trauma, loyalty, and limited choices, the play blends lyrical realism with moments of brutal honesty. The Nest’s production will emphasize intimacy, emotional immediacy, and ensemble-driven storytelling, inviting audiences into close proximity with characters whose voices are often unheard.

A 23-year-old woman and lifelong best friend of Margaritah. She’s stuck in the dead-end town of Middletown, working in a video store and dreaming of escape. Lula has a strained relationship with her family (including an alcoholic mother) and seeks connection through relationships that ultimately lead to disappointment. Her choices and yearning reflect both vulnerability and frustration with her life’s limits.
Partial nudity (bra and underwear) and Lula engages in intimate situations though it might not be explicitly enacted. This can be flexible based on actors' comfortability. An intimacy coordinator will be on site for emotional and physical safety.
23 years old, any ethnicity. Margaritha is Lula’s best friend since childhood. She’s burdened with the responsibility of caring for her baby, often showing ambivalence or emotional detachment toward motherhood. Ritah is coping with a constant "Buzzing" in her head, a unignorable affectation of her declining mental wellbeing. She hopes love might be her ticket out of their stagnant world, especially when she becomes involved with an Argentine businessman whose intentions are dangerous but exciting. Her arc explores longing, disillusionment, and the cost of clinging to hope in unlikely places.

His mysterious political and business background fascinates her and offers the illusion of change, though his real motives—and their consequences—are ambiguous.
